Plestiodon fasciatus
Small, fast moving lizard. Young lizards are dark with yellow stripes dorsally. Tail with blue. Mature lizards lose the blue coloration. Females retain the yellow stripes, males eventually lose their stripes, becoming more brown overall and developing red on the head. Pale chin and belly. The Common and Southeastern Five-lined Skinks look nearly identical but have a different scale pattern on the underside of the tail (hence the reason I caught these guys, for species confirmation). No lizards were harmed at any time and they were released exactly where they were found.
On the side of a house in a neighborhood.
