Tropical Hydrangea

Dombeya wallichii

Description:

Unusual Flower or inflorescence of flowers on a broad-leafed tree. Unfortunately I forgot to take a picture of the whole tree. This was flowering in the dry season. The tree was covered in both new and old flowers. The old ones don't seem to fall off when they die.

Habitat:

Growing close to the center of the village of Teopisca, about 900 meters.

Notes:

This is also called the "Pink Ball" or Pink Ball Tree. It is native to India, East Aftrica and Madagascar. Family: Sterculiaceae. http://edis.ifas.ufl.edu/st232.

Thank you so much Livan. I am always amazed where plants I see here in Mexico actually came from.
