Stick Insect, Phasmid - Female

Pyalemenes borneensis sepilokensis

Description:

Not the typical looking stick insect, wide bodied and stout. Female Phasmid from the family of Heteropterygidae under the genus of Pylaemenes. They have a 'crown' on top of their head as shown in the close-up Pic#1. The name of the genus was derived from Greek mythology, Pylaemenes was the king of the Eneti tribe of Paphlagonia.
