Bison bison bison

Bison, (and "Beefalo", a hybrid), are raised throughout the prairies and Alberta. The meat is delicious. There are still some reserves with wild stock, (Elk Island National Park outside of Edmonton as an example). These pictures taken in Saskatchewan and although these ones are semi-domesticated they are big animals, moody and unpredictable, they can be aggressive. There is a fence between myself and them. I'm very serious when I say that I had less fear while shooting pictures of the bear, which I posted, than being next to these critters. :)

(I'm not sure why the scientific name is repeated 3 times?)
