Silver Haired Bat

Lasionycteris noctivagans

A small male silver haired bat

Residential area

This bat was recovered from inside a house. It has an injured wing. It was likely transported in on firewood as these bats use woodpiles for hibernation in our area. Please check firewood before bringing it indoors in the mid-Atlantic region of North America, especially if you are nearing the lower levels of a woodpile.
