Breeding can be anywhere between August & February depending on conditions. A peak is often in October/November depending on temperatures rainfall. For example if weather is extreme with drought & fire then that will curtail breeding for most species, some persist but chances of success are less. If seasons are moist, food available, interspersed with warm days then birds tend to breed well & some take on a second nesting. Currawongs are resident in high country most for the time, but do travel down to lower regions in winter.
Would that be November, December for breeding behaviour in the Blue Mtns?
Cold but great atmosphere! Though with the weather as it is it could be warmer than normal.
Yes, I think there would be more displaying and territorial behaviour then. Another trip! but it might be fairly cool up there then?
You've certainly been to one of the best places. Late Winter into Spring is a great time to be in the Blue Mountains as well.
