A worldwide community photographing and learning about wildlife
Calopteryx splendens
Blue damselfly. Male with two broad blue bands on all four wings, female with wings tinted throughout. Body size some 50 mm, wingspan some 70 mm. In repose, wings kept upwards.
Lives in vicinity of slow-flowing water, and on waterside vegetation, found mixed with another species of Calopteryx (C. virgo).
