setonix brachyurus
A small marsupial (wallaby) listed as vulnerable. Size of body approx 400-500mm.
Found in Western Australia (WA) mainland, and plentiful on Rottnest Island off the WA coast, the Quoka inhabits low native shrubby and grassy areas.
They are not concerned with humans at Rottnest so you can observe them as they come together socially in groups mainly in the early morning and evenings. It wasn't keen to sniff my hand, but caught its interest for this photo.
