Description:

A species of Arhopala, a genus of the "Blues and Coppers" (Lepidoptera: Lycaenidae). The upperside of the wings (not depicted) is an electric indigo-purple. Arhopala is a very large genus containing over 200 species collectively known as oakblues. They occur from Japan throughout temperate to tropical Asia south and east of the Himalayas to Australia, New Guinea and the Solomon Islands of Melanesia.

Habitat:

Spotted on ornamental shrubbery in a large semi-urban yard and garden near a disturbed patch of remnant equatorial lowland forest.
