Western Kingbird

Tyrannus verticalus

Description:

A lovely, lively bird. Lemon-yellow belly, grey-white throat, dark grey tail, lighter grey back. I didn't see the red blaze on top of the head, nor the narrow white edging on the tail.

Habitat:

a little nature trail somewhere just inside the Utah-Idaho border. (I wasn't paying attention to where we were!) A lake, meadows, and a little thicket.

Notes:

I confess I had misidentified this for a month now! I'd been calling it a Western Flycatcher! (That's what I get for trusting someone else's ID without verifying it for myself when I got back to my book! Now I have to edit my life-list and journal!
