Tower Case Moth

Lepidoscia arctiella

Description:

A very small and slender bag-moth larva in a case made of the leaflets of a black wattle. The leaflets are arranged in rings in increasing numbers, making the case wider at the upper end and opening through which the larva's head protrudes. Recently added twiglets can be seen in the upper most ring of the case (pic 3), still green.

Habitat:

Spotted on Black Wattle ( Acacia mearnsii)

Notes:

This is the smallest bag-moth larva I've seen.
