Orthetrum cancellatum
Body size approx 5 cm, and a wingspan some 8 cm. Male only has this bright blue abdomen with a typically black tip. Wings are clear with a black patch (pterostigma).
Found in waterside shrubs and grasses; in an area counting a number of small lakes, and very close both to river (Ain) and a deciduous forest.
