Holothuria hilla

Description:

Flaccid, cylindrical brown sea cucumber ~ 12 cm long with dull white spots.

Habitat:

Near shore shallow tropical waters; coral reef ecosystem.

Notes:

Spotted at low tide in 10-15 cm of water in a depression in the reef flat south of Mokauea Island, off the south shore of Oahu, when the piece of coral rubble under which it was sheltering was moved to see what was underneath. The creature was removed for imaging and returned to its initial location.
