Cape Buffalo

Syncerus caffer

Description:

Africa's largest and most formidable bovine. Cape Buffalo are said to have killed more big game hunters than any other animal in Africa. The Cape buffalo has never been domesticated, but if left alone they are quite placid, just like their bovine brethren

Habitat:

Mthethomusha private reserve

Notes:

Our guide and spotter explained that solitary bulls like this one are especially dangerous and cranky. They spend a lot of their time lying in thick brush, and get up only when disturbed enough to charge(4th photo)

Thank you! I have to say that for a canned group tour, we had excellent guides and safari drives. I would do this again in a hot second!
