Description:

A large carnivorous foraging ant, jack jumpers are usually around 12 mm in length and have a black body with orange legs and mandibles. Their bite is painful and it is well known for some people to react with severe anaphylaxis.

Habitat:

Jack jumpers build their nests beneath rocks or in open ground, constructing a mound of fine gravel between 20 - 40 cm across.
