Freshwater Mussel

Margaritifera

Description:

Eggs turn into larvae called glochidia which look like tiny mussels and they are parasites that must find a fish to attach to. They attach to the fins or gills of a fish. Also known as host fish. Dark brown with lighter brown stripes. Round. I could tell this was a mussel because it has a similar elongate shape and it’s dark brown similar color.
