Wild Basil

Clinopodium vulgare

Description:

Dense, rounded clusters at the tops of very hairy stems. I think this is the fruit part of the plant. During summer, this plant has beautiful, tubular purple flowers.

Habitat:

Spotted along a nature trail on the edge of a meadow.

Notes:

The dried leaves can be used as a seasoning. The plant is also purported to have many medicinal qualities.
