Bush Cricket

Description:

A long yellowish-brown colored katydid that was attracted to the night lights. Forehead to wingtips measured 60mm. Picture 3 shows it's long sword-like ovipositor. Picture 4 shows it grooming it's antenna. Video shows it moving it's ovipositor. Seems like a Tympanoptera species.

Habitat:

Plants of Maliau Basin, near Tawau town, Sabah.

Notes:

Katydid are one of the most common nocturnal insects here. Other than them, cicadas and moths are much common. >>>Map accuracy : 5km diameter.
