Fowler's Toad

Anaxyrus fowleri

Description:

Two individuals seen in the same area on the same night. The toads were out in force. They were likely hunting insects attracted to the flood lights outside of my place of work. Medium sized toads. Brown to gray with pale undersides. Three or more warts within dark dorsal patches help to distinguish this species from its closely related cousin the Eastern American Toad.

Habitat:

Suburban area bordering field, vegetation and a drainage ditch.
