Rose Gentian

Sabatia sp.

Habitat:

Wet pinelands. Moist soil, marshes.

Notes:

There are two Sabatia species listed in the Everglades National Park's checklist of vascular plants, Sabatia stellaris and Sabatia grandiflora. Although this flower did not have as wide a petal as most grandiflora photos I see, it seems S. stellaris is more of a coastal marsh, salt/brackish water species. Saw this pale specimen near entrance of 3 in 1 trail, then saw the more purple one (pic 3) further down the Long Pine Key trail. Location on map for pics 1 and 2.
