Arizona Ridgenosed Rattlesnake

Crotalus willardi willardi

Description:

... just a little neonate, a few days old. We saw several that day and couldn't help but think we might have accidentally squished some under-foot.

This deserves some love! one of my favorite viperids from AZ, and one that I worked so hard only not to find in my last herp / bird trip there. Hopefully this August I will make another trip for birds and herps and manage to find one to photograph. I went to Portal for the Twin Spotted, only to find that the park they inhabit was closed due to the fires. Next time!
