Description:

Spotted this Cuckoo wasp in my bedroom. Captured it for a photo session and released it afterwards. When disturbed, it rolls up in a ball as seen it photo 2. This is called conglobation.

What a great study of the wasp! I am not sure, but it looks like the "back" of "my wasp" has a quite different setup. (comparing my picture 2 to your picture 5) But the difference in colouration within the same species is quite common in this family, as far as I have understood...
