Galilee Lizard Orchid

Himanthoglossum caprinum ssp. levantinum

Description:

A rare endangered orchid of the eastern Mediterranean. The lip is very long and non-spotted. The young flower has it lip rolled, before it unfold. It blooms after all other flowers dry, its own leaves are also dry already.

Habitat:

This rare orchid grows in a few localilities in the Upper Galilee and the Golan Heights, and in Lebanon.
