2 Kea parrots, in a fiordland parking, where we stopped for a luch, during our trip, last summer. They were very curious about us and landed near the car as soon as we parked, but didn't came too close, and didn't care for our food either, although we gave them a couple of tiny pieces, just for a treat...They left the area soon after...

They get very hungry during winter, and that's the reason they approach people/tourists...During summer they can get their own food with no problem.
(thank you for your comments, sorry it took me so long to answer :)
Whoops! Sorry! 1 question. Why do they get hungry in the winter?
Now that is interesting!!
Now that is awesome!
It's true, @KarenPuracan, they're smart and innovative, and very curious too. But I think all the damages etc, happen in winter, when they get really hungry, and there 's not much food availble...In summer, they don't come too close to the people, they can find all the food they need, in the wild...
Thank you @Gerardo Aizpuru :)
I've heard keas like to strip the rubber off of car windshield wipers etc. smart buggers aren't they?
Very nice :)
