Tawny Frogmouth family

Podargus strigoides

Notes:

A curious family of three tawny frogmouths seen WAY up in a tree in the Palmer Coolum Resort at Yaroomba. These gorgeous birds are generally nocturnal. Many people think that tawny frogmouths are owls, but they're not - they are actually more closely related to the nightjars.

Thanks Christy! They are really hard to spot because they blend right in, but they sort of bobble around on the branches so you see the movement first. I just love them!!
