Cephalotes Big Headed Ant

Cephalotes clypeatus (Myrmicinae)

Description:

These large headed ants of 2 noticeably different sizes, were tending a species of black scale infesting bamboo. Subfamily Myrmicinae.

Habitat:

Found on Bamboo along the wooden trails at Iguazu Falls on the Argentian side.

Notes:

Identified by Dr. Brian Fisher of the California Academy of Science, San Francisco.
