Description:

Hyphaene thebaica is a unique palm, its trunk is split. It is mainly an east African species, reaching its northern border in South Israel, where it is known only in 2 sites. This pic was taken in the South Arava Valley in S Israel.

Habitat:

wet saline

Notes:

very rare and endangered in S Israel and S Jordan.
