Red Kangaroo Paw

Anigozanthos rufus

Description:

Hot pink, fuzzy plant with tubular flowers attractive to honeyeaters.

Habitat:

Coogee to Bondi coastal walk, Sydney, NSW

Notes:

Native to the southern part of West Australia, this is probably a cultivar in a garden along the coastal walk. A lot of the plants along this route are not native to the area.

Thanks for your help Leanne! This is most certainly what it is and probably a cultivar planted by the Sydney parks. Very pretty and exotic looking and the honeyeaters love it.

My guess would be a Kangaroo Paw, Kathleen, (Anigozanthos sp) though not native to the area.
