A worldwide community photographing and learning about wildlife
Adites pseudohilaris
The moth was attracted to the porch light and has been a visitor from last 3 days. It was around 2 cm long.
The surrounding area is coffee land with large trees. Patches of grassland can also be seen inbetween.
Raksha, please, add some more information about the spotting. Where did you find it? What about the habitat? Any other interesting info? It is not an often seen species, so any story about it would be interesting for our community, thanks!
Erebidae, Arctiinae, Lithosiini, Nudariina, Adites pseudohilaris.
OK, that was a really hard one. Finally I got the ID.
Funny story: Roger Kendrick found the same one in 2010, undescribed, with several options, see my little resumée on flickr. In 2016 this lichen moth was first described by Singh and Kirti, so, no wonder, Roger as a wellknown expert, could not find an ID in 2010, when only described in 2016. But he should have added the ID on flickr avoiding me wasting my time for looking around. He got the ID on iNaturalist from another expert, but has forgotten to add the ID on flickr as well :-)
Note, both, yours and Rogers are found in Kerala!
