Lined Sea Hare

Stylocheilus striatus

Description:

Mottled brown-beige mollusk (sea hare) ~ 60 mm long.

Habitat:

Near shore shallow tropical waters; coral reef ecosystem.

Notes:

Spotted at low tide in 100-150 mm of water in a depression in the reef flat south of Mokauea Island, off the south shore of Oahu. These creatures were "all over", often in clusters or chains (see image 4). EOL cites his species name as a synonym for S. longicauda. Sea Slugs of Hawaii lists the two as separate species.
