Wandering Garter Snake

Description:

The subspecies of the Western Terrestrial Garter Snake that is found in Colorado is usually a light brown in color with hints of green. It has a light stripe running down the center of the back.

Habitat:

This snake was found swimming in the South Platte River along the bank. The river in this location was flowing through pastureland.
