I am certain of the species. This is a brown phase European Mantis. Nice shots! The inside of the front leg you can see the edge of the dark spot as well as the white speckling.

Shayna, do you have any other views? My best guess from location and what I can see is that this is a European Mantis, Mantis religiosa. http://bugguide.net/node/view/22947

All (and I mean ALL) of the Mantids posted here on PN from Ontario are Mantis religiosa. Pretty interesting. I guess they are the most cold hardy of the Mantids here in North America.
