Description:

This satyr butterfly is without discernable eyespots. Instead there is a small patch on the hind wings that resembles the face of a jumping spider.

Habitat:

Spotted at White Oak Lake State Park. Mixed forest.

Notes:

Range: Southeastern United States south to central peninsular Florida; west to southeast Kansas, central Oklahoma, central Texas, and northeastern Mexico.
