Two-tailed Swallowtail

Description:

Very large butterfly, overall yellow in color with very thin black stripes. Note two "tails" on each hind wing.

Habitat:

Favors dry canyons in the American west.

Notes:

Larvae feed on chokecherry. This adult butterfly was spotted in a butterfly garden at the Cheyenne Mountain Zoo.
