halictid bee (sweat bee)

? Lasioglossum sp

Description:

A small black bee about 5mm long.

Habitat:

Spotted feeding in a buttercup - nature reserve

Notes:

My thanks to Jorge4 for suggesting an ID for this minute insect that looked very much like a wasp. My photos are not adequate to correctly identify the species but I believe the genus is correct http://www.flickr.com/photos/29697818@N0... http://bie.ala.org.au/image-search/showS...
