Plant / Insect Gall

Description:

3-4mm diameter spheres on the underside of ash (?) leaves. Dark brown in color. Moderate density, squashed easily under light finger pressure.

Habitat:

Fallen leaf litter from surrounding trees.

Notes:

My guess is they are evidence of gall from an insect species.
