This made me think of a yellow petunia except for the prominent stamen & colour ;)

This is an Oenothera species. It is probably O. drummondii, which definitely grows both upright (up to 60 cm high) and prostrate. http://www.ehp.qld.gov.au/coastal/pdf/co...
Yes Ashish, I thought it looked like a petunia, but different.
Gives feel of Buttercup... but its different...
