This attractive moth was about 15 mm long ( wing span about 30 mm). The fore wings, with the moth at rest, showed a bell-shaped pattern of shades of brown straddling the middle of both wings. Each apex showed a brown patch. The submarginal area was bordered by a broken thin wavy black line and the trailing margin, a broken thin black line. The trailing margin was fringed. Antennae were swept back over the body

Habitat:

Spotted under bright lights near a sports field. Distribution: http://bie.ala.org.au/species/urn:lsid:b...

Notes:

I could only find information about the Subfamily of Pyralidae that includes this moth. Would have to rely on experts for a genus and species ID. The reference link has labelled this as Epipaschiinae species D My thanks to Cathy Powers for the genus ID and reference http://www.flickr.com/photos/dhobern/315... Family: Pyralidae Subfamily: Epipaschiinae
