Ascalapha odorata
Today we spotted this very big 12 cm wing span moth (the cellular phone next to it in the last picture is 10 cm heigh) in school. It seem to want to be inside as when we wanted to place it outside it chose to hide in a dark place still inside. It resembles the Ascalapha odorata (Linnaeus, 1758) moth - or "Pirpinto" as we call it - because of its brownish greyish color with bottom "m" marks at the bottom middle edge of the wings and the two "semicolon" like signs at the top middle of each wing. However, this one seems to be bigger and it has the white irregular lines along the bottom middle of the wings. It does not seem to be identified in the recent book I have.
