Eastern Hayscented Fern

Dennstaedtia punctilobula

Description:

These fronds were just starting to leaf out and were growing all throughout a mixed forest. The abundance of this fern growing in a forest will restrict the potential for tree seedlings to grow.

Habitat:

Growing throughout a mixed forest.

Notes:

The common name "hayscented fern" comes from the fact that crushing it produces the aroma of fresh hay.
