1.25 in. long brown American Assassin Bug. Has a long sharp beak and serrated circular armor on thorax.
Predatory on soft-bodied arthropods. Pierces them with its beak and liquifies their insides. This one found on the slope of a ravine at Floracliff Nature Preserve near Lexington KY.
