Large duck, showing red wattles around the bill. The adult has usually a white neck, a black back with some glossy green feathers. Ducklings are buff and yellow. This individual is definitely a juvenile, turning from buff plumage to the typical black and white.
Native from Central and South America, this duck has been domesticated and spread worldwide Feral populations have been reported in North America, Europe and new Zealand..
