Glyphodes sp.
Black and white crambid moth. Body length is about 8mm.
Urban garden.
Although I tend to agree with Nuwan's suggestion - http://www.flickr.com/photos/ryanbrookes..., http://lepidoptera.butterflyhouse.com.au... (compare this with your 3rd pic), I could not find any literature specifying kasama ang Phils sa distribution - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Glyphodes_o.... Ang nakita kong with recorded distribution in the Philippines is Glyphodes stolalis - http://www.eje.cz/pdfarticles/1550/eje_1..., http://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:G.... But if you will notice, Glyphodes onychinalis occurs in our neighboring countries - HK, Thailand, Indonesia, Cambodia, Australia, New Zealand - parang nilagpasan nila ang Philippines (or wala pa lang recorded occurrence in the Philippines, ngayon pa lang :)..... I love its name in NZ - http://naturewatch.org.nz/taxa/17890-Gly.... Now, there is a Bocchoris onychinalis in BOLD Systems which looks a lot like Glyphodes onychinalis - http://www.boldsystems.org/index.php/Tax.... Maybe ito yung sinasabi ni Mike. The specimens were collected in Indonesia and Papua New Guinea. This species also occurs in Africa - http://www.africanmoths.com/pages/CRAMBI... Merong Ategumia fatualis syn Bocchoris fatualis - native to Phils. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ategumia_fa... pero wala akong makitang pictures. - AGNES ADIQUE-TALAVERA
Hi @Mike24! I asked the help of fellow PN member @Agnes Adique-Talavera re this moth. I copied her reply to my email under notes so I can use it as reference. For the meantime the scientific name remains blank until I'm pretty sure about it. Thanks for your comments and ID suggestions. Best regards...
Thank you @Mike24! Will check on Bocchoris genus and update my spotting after confirmation. Thanks for all the ID species. Appreciate you looking at my moth spottings.
I see some differences to that mentioned Glyphodes, but don t know that species personally :)
I'd placed it somewhere among Bocchoris genus :)
