Sumatran Pine (Kerinci Strain)

Description:

This is the Kerinci strain of the Sumatran pine, which is the only naturally occurring pine tree south of the equator. The Kerinci strain differs from its relatives in North Sumatra and Aceh in that it has smooth bark on it's trunk.

Habitat:

Seen along the Bukit Tapan road in the Kerinci Seblat National Park, Sumatra, Indonesia.

Notes:

Listed as Vulnerable on the IUCN Red List.
