Common Raven

Corvus corax

Notes:

In 2010 the first breeding raven at the Oostvaardersplassen was spotted since the bird disappeared in 1929. The raven was reintroduced in Holland in 1969 and is a rare breeding bird since the mid seventies. The first nesting sites where seen at the Veluwen and the Utrechtse Heuvelrug. The nest at the Oostvaardersplassen was first spotted by photographer and ecologist Ruben Smit. He saw a raven chasing a sea eagle and by checking the neighborhood he stumbled upon the ravens nest.
