Description:

Approximately 30mm long overall.

Habitat:

Resting under strong night lighting at the local railway station. (Also found again the following morning)

Notes:

Endangered species! Thanks LeanneGardner for ID.
A little larger than most dark Hesperiidae around here. There are 3 subspecies on the Australian east coast - sombra, sommomus, soma.

It looks the more similar in my reference book than the one I put on here. You never know :)

Great Skipper, Mark! I think this may be the correct ID, going on size, wing pattern etc. Subspecies soma being found in your area. Hope this helps :)
