Black Solitary Eagles

Harpyhaliaetus solitarius solitarius

Description:

These birds of prey are rare and and mostly unknown in their range of Mexico, Central and South America. They are the largest neotropical eagles.. They are thought to eat snakes, varmint, and other birds, though not much is known regarding their feeding habits. They resemble the Great Black Hawk but have flatter heads and a broader wing span. I have a nest under observation and will post better photos as I get them.
