Altanticus testaceus
This is some type of hopping animal. Is it poisonous or not?
This looks like a female Shield-backed Katydid, Subfamily Tettigoniinae. They are harmless. The long, sword-like appendage extending out from the end of the abdomen is an ovipositor. It is used to lay eggs, nothing else. :-)http://bugguide.net/node/view/284
