Cortinarius sp.?

Cortinarius sp.?

Description:

Large golden-yellow/brown agaric mushroom, possibly Cortinarius sp. Approximately 15 cms in diameter with fairly large, deep gills, and no ring (that I could see). Smooth glossy cap, almost metallic in appearance. From a distance I thought it was a discarded can, the way it was glistening in the sunlight. Only one specimen found in area. Growing amongst eucalyptus leaf litter.

Habitat:

Bungoona Track in Bald Rock National Park, NSW. Native eucalypt forest.
