Red breasted Nuthatch

Sita canadensis

Description:

Smaller than the white breasted Nuthatch, this member of the Nuthatches has a blue/gray upper body and pale peach colored breast. The black and white pattern on the head includes a black eye bar which is lacking in the White breasted Nuthatch.

Habitat:

Woodlands, parks, forest edges, and yards that include trees and open areas.

Notes:

Very attractive bird which seems to be less common than the White breasted in this ares.
